Why I Wrote Surviving the Promised Storm

Life has a way of testing our faith when we least expect it. Storms—both literal and figurative—can shake our foundations and make us question everything we believe. Surviving the Promised Storm was born out of a desire to explore what happens when ordinary people face extraordinary challenges, and how faith can guide us through the darkest times.

When I began writing this novel, I wanted more than just a story. I wanted a message of hope. The characters—Emma, Cullen, Gabriel, Rainey, Terrence, Brandi—aren’t perfect. They struggle, they doubt, and they fight to hold on to what matters most. Their journey mirrors the storms we all face in life: uncertainty, loss, and the need for resilience. Through their experiences, I hope readers will see that even in chaos, God’s promises remain steadfast.

This book is part of my Watch, Lone Sparrow series that reminds us to stand firm and watch for God’s promises even when the world feels like it is falling apart.

Writing Surviving the Promised Storm was also deeply personal. Like many of you, I’ve faced seasons where life felt overwhelming.
